About Us

We are a family friendly church

Currently we have various initiatives at Springwater supporting our heart of encouraging each other and those around us. On a weekly basis we network, partner and connect with various churches and other organisations around us that help us live out the love of Jesus. Our weekend church community services are a mix of contemporary and traditional styles and can vary. They are also informal, relaxed and conducted in an atmosphere where people are encouraged to connect with God and with each other. We engage in prayer, share stories of God’s grace and love and listen to people sharing reflections, insights and short talks that help us focus and reflect on the way of Jesus. There would be an opportunity to receive prayer for personal needs, if requested, and a time to share and build community with people. Find out more on the WHAT TO EXPECT PAGE

The Church was founded in 1795 under the name of Providence Chapel as a safe place and place of refuge from the polarization, violence and conflict that affected the area at that time. The church community quickly became involved in running education initiatives for children in the local community who could not access schooling.

Springwater was an independent chapel until we became part of the Congregational Federation in the 1980’s and in 2010 the community decided to renamed itself as Springwater, reflecting the old spring and well in Spring Wood, that has the inscription:

‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst’.

John 4 v 13-14
